Status: City Permitting
180 Broadway is a 28,000 sf mixed-use project in Somerville, MA. Formerly a single-family home and suburban pastry shop, the lot was purchase by the developer to build 26 units of urban apartments and studios. To conform with strict zoning requirements, a series of south-facing domestic terraces cascade towards the backyard. Along the commerical street, the building is articulated as four townhomes above a commercial plinth to preserve neighborhood character. Framed balconies pay homage to the bay windows of New England triple-deckers.
