Forbes Court is rich with local histories. The 18-acre peninsula was the site of a revolutionary war battle and a 19th century lithography plant. To revitalize the area with new housing and commercial development, the masterplan had three goals: 1) celebrate the maritime heritage, 2) respect existing industrial architecture, and 3) open the waterfront for recreation. The site is divided into three development zones, with public and commercial uses closer to the neighborhood, mid-density housing in the middle, and higher-density residential buildings farthest away. The development is elevated above a large parking plinth and organized along an interior main street with a continuous boardwalk along the waterfront.
